Glen Carbon Read-n-Run

Early Saturday morning we headed over to Glen Carbon School for the Read-n-Run Marathon.  The Read-n-Run is a reading program that promotes exercise.  Jack had most of the year to read 26 books and "run" 25 miles, the 26th miles was completed as a group at the marathon.  So we read, and read.  This momma didn't read the directions as closely as I should of 'cause I missed that every 20 pages counted as a "book", so we read far more than the needed amount.  Jack is reading lots of chapter books now a days and I made each one count as only one book, whoops...  Oh well, a little extra reading never hurt anyone!!  Jack did different things to equal his 25 miles, including karate, soccer, running around the block and (on the snow days) running up and down our stairs.  We finished in late February and turned in all of his stuff.  Then we waited for today!!  Liv, Milli, and I went to cheer Jack on!!  Daddy had over night drill and was just coming in as we were leaving, so we took lots of pictures!!  About 50 kids and 10 or more teachers ran the mile in the hilly area near Glen Carbon School. (When my school does this it will be on a nice even track, thank goodness :)
Ready to RUN!!
Excited with Ethan and Carson!
Time to line-up, this Kindergarten group is ready...
Off they go!!
So proud of her big brother!!
Coming in!!  Jack was in the first group of about 10 kids to cross the finish line!!
Jack ran 1 mile from the front of Glen Carbon school, through a neighborhood, in front of Miner Plaza,(where Sweeties is), and UP the BIG hill back to the front of the school in a little less than 10 minutes!!  We are so proud of him!!
Liv was Jack's biggest cheerleader!
Jackson getting his medal from the principal, Mr. Schumacher!
